Accession number:2012.18.1.A Label Copy: Mark Bradford is best known for his large-scale, painterly collages that use found materials to demonstrate his interest in mapping communities and underground economies. In this series of intimate prints, Bradford reveals the primary source material for his collages to be the posters and signage that he gathers from the streets of South Central Los Angeles, where he lives. Through this incorporation of informal business advertisements, which market everything from legal services to hair care, Bradford speaks to the adaptive nature of merchant culture.
