Label Text:This adult satyr (male companion of Dionysus), holding a (thyrsos) rod in his hand, seems to be supporting a maenad (female companion). The attention to veins and musculature in this finely worked piece points to a consciously archaizing style. From marks on the back, it is clear that this stone was reused as a building block.
