Label TextFashion guru Andre Leon Talley was born in 1949 in Durham, North Carolina and received his bachelor's degree from North Carolina Central University. Talley moved to New York in 1975, and took his first job answering the telephone for Interview magazine at Warhol's studio. Before long, Talley was behind a typewriter, penning celebrity profiles. Today Talley is the American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine. He has been instrumental in mentoring up-and-coming fashion designers of color, such as Tracy Reese, John Saldivar, and Rachael Roy.
