Label Text:This stone adaptation of the Attic lekythos shape is a departure from the Archaic tradition of using a carved stele, or upright stone slab, as grave marker. Here the deceased Timarete, whose name is inscribed above and to the right of her head, is examining a jewelry box held by her servant.
