Label TextNoah Davis created a distinctive style of painting characterized by flat planes of color, mysterious human figures, and surrealistic imagery. His sources ranged from art history and found photographs to autobiographical events that are both imaginative and factual. Davis was also the founder of the Underground Museum in Los Angeles.

Black Widow with Brothers Fighting is both tender and disturbing. Like much of Davis’s work, this painting is a quiet reflection on the banality and sadness of daily life and is also underscored by a sense of light-heartedness and introspection.
